Mentor pharmacist of the smart hospital that are safe for patients-The hope of future pharmacists

Korean Pharmaceutical Association

The first role of a pharmacist to treat patients is to administer medicine well, but in a changing era, a more necessary role is mentoring that can move patients to cope with stress. As society becomes more complex, it is a common idea that the root cause of many diseases is stress, and it is said that the problem is not being able to use it positively. However, it seems that pharmacists have not yet developed the education necessary for these change. If we grow up a pharmacist who can help the patients through counseling and solve the root cause of their heartache, pharmacist’s status in society will increase even more. Therefore, since 2017, the Pharmacy Department of Seoul National University Hospital has been providing education to develop the humanitarian quality of all employees together with an institution specializing in humanities education called ‘Nature Law Institute’. So, I would like to share this experience with pharmacists around the world. In addition, we would like to share the needs for changes in education according to the changing role of pharmacists.
